Project Objectives

The project aims to create modern CDI infrastructure and equip it with cutting-edge technologies to enhance the research capacity of INCDFP, modernize national research infrastructure, and support participation in European research projects.

CRESCENTO is part of the category of projects focusing on acquiring equipment and tools for research. Four sites will be equipped/modernized with TIC and/or CD instruments to enable optimal usage for initiating and conducting research activities. Investment proposals were tailored to the institutional strategy, aligned with the national CD strategy, regional opportunities, and the action’s specific context.

Specific Objectives

  1. Creation of the National Mobile Geophysical Instruments Laboratory
    • Equip it with Earth Physics research tools to improve service offerings through innovative approaches to applied research topics and diversify scientific activities transferrable to economic, scientific, and decision-making beneficiaries.
  2. Increase Research Capacity on Seismic Phenomena in Romania
    • Develop innovative scientific research methods for early warning in major earthquakes and transfer knowledge through the creation of the multidisciplinary “Vrancea Near Fault Observatory (VNFO),” part of the European EPOS infrastructure.
  3. Modernization of the Dobrogea Seismological Observatory
    • Equip with state-of-the-art ICT and research tools to enhance processing, storage, and data delivery capacity for beneficiaries and society.
  4. Creation of a Dynamic Measurements Laboratory in Timișoara Observatory
    • Equip with research, development, and innovation tools for engineering seismology to expand applied research based on seismic engineering data, laboratory experiments, and geophysical data.
