The European Researchers’ Night is an annual event held in over 300 cities across Europe. In Romania, this year’s event takes place in cities such as Bucharest, Timișoara, Cluj-Napoca, Suceava, Galați, and many others. The event invites the general public to engage in discussions with researchers, witness spectacular experiments, enjoy live demonstrations, and attend fascinating scientific talks.

A traditional science promotion fair for the general public, the event features over 100 exhibitors across 20 locations. In 2022, more than 50,000 visitors attended events held in 18 locations, including Baia Mare, Bistrița, Brăila, Buzău, Cluj-Napoca, Fălticeni, Focșani, Galați, Măgurele, Pitești, Satu Mare, Suceava, Târgu Neamț, Timișoara, and rural areas in UNESCO Geoparks such as Ținutul Buzăului, Țara Hațegului, Carpaterra, and Oltenia de sub Munte.

This year’s event is organized by a national consortium that includes:

  • “Ștefan cel Mare” University, Suceava
  • Dunărea de Jos University, Galați

Event Format
This year’s event combines research institute and university stands, hands-on workshops, demonstration experiments, scientific lectures, student research project presentations, general knowledge competitions, and more. The 2023 edition focuses on the latest scientific results achieved in Romania and aims to highlight how research enhances everyday life, contributes to societal development, and inspires new career paths.
